Lawrence Murphy
March 6, 1940 - November 10, 2018

Lawrence Joseph Murphy, age 78 of Rotonda West, FL, formerly of Grosse Ile, MI, passed away on November 10, 2018.

Larry was born in Detroit, MI to James and Lucille (Smith) Murphy on March 6, 1940, the youngest of five children. He was educated in Detroit at Holy Redeemer and graduated from Western High School in Jan 1959. He served in the U.S. Army for three years and upon honorable discharge, completed his Associates Degree from Henry Ford Community College. Larry was a millwright at Ford Motor Company for 30 years, retiring in June 1992. He retired in Florida, where he was known as the neighborhood "Mr. Fix-It", mastered daily crossword puzzles, fished, played cards and visited Biloxi with his friend Don.

Larry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margaret (Morrison), 4 children, Margaret (Lester) Sharon, William (Anne), Michael (Bridget), and Donald (Lori), 11 grandchildren, Megan, Jacob, Brendan, Jack, Ryan, Lia, Joseph, Shae, Grace, Brenna, and Connor and 2 sisters, Joan Sall and Jean Murphy. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother and best friend, James, and his sister, Shirley Cunningham.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Michigan at a later date.

Arrangements are with Lemon Bay Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
