In loving memory of

Richard Audrick Gonzalez
December 10, 1933 - November 26, 2018

Richard "Dick" A. Gonzalez passed away on Monday November 26, 2018. Dick was born on December 10, 1933 in the Bronx to Joseph and Bertha (nee Busey) Gonzalez. A few years later his father built their home in Copiague, Long Island where they raised a blended family. His brother Claude, half brothers, Rudy and George, and half sister Nelly and all predeceased him.

Richard enlisted in the Army to follow all his brothers' dedication to our country. Bronchiectasis put him in the infirmary for 3 months and he was honorably discharged July 17, 1952. Upon returning home he met and married his first wife Ruth (Witmeyer) Gonzalez, mother of his extraordinary children, Richard (Shane) Gonzalez, predeceased, Robyn McKay, and Rhonni Hoeg.

Richard was VP of Eastern Federal on Long Island for 27 years. In 1981, he met Diane Gorman and they married June 5, 1982. Richard left banking and opened a limousine business on Long Island. After retirement, he and Diane moved to Punta Gorda. Diane continued working while Richard took great pride in taking care of their home. His landscaping work was spectacular, even caring for the two entryways onto their street up until the past year.

He is survived by his loving wife, Diane Gorman-Gonzalez, Robyn & Bob McKay, Rhonni & Greg Hoeg, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law Bill (Penny) Gorman, and Joe Petrillo.

Richard was a man of strong faith. His devotion to God guided his daily life. After a marriage of 36 years, Diane is broken hearted, but knows he is residing in the house of our Lord & Savior.
