Kenny Watkins was born November 28, 1959 at Colorado City, TX to Calvin and Nelda (Harris) Watkins. The oldest of three children, they moved often with his father's career in the Air Force but he was never far from the love of his family. He accepted Christ at an early age. Kenny was a devout Christian and served as a Deacon of the church. He graduated from Big Spring High School in 1978. He married Jennie Ament in 1982 and was blessed with two children, Jillian Denise and Keith Daniel. He has three grandchildren, Zoe Marie, Zayda Lee and Izaac Hall, whom he loves dearly.
He was an outside salesman for most of his career, earning respect, admiration and friendship from customers and coworkers alike. He had an easy smile, upbeat attitude and tremendous work ethic. Kenny was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed fishing. He loved the Lord with all his heart and served the church not only as a deacon, but also as a youth minister. A gifted singer, he regularly blessed congregations with song specials and singing in the choir. He was compassionate and selfless to all, even to those he did not know. He touched an untold number of lives.
Kenny's greatest joy in life was his kids and grandkids, involving himself in any way he could. He poured his heart into them, whether as Boy Scout Troop leader, school board member or a fan in the stands at their school activities. His memory will live on through the love and kindness he gave them.
He was preceded in death by his brother Howard Keith Watkins who died in military service in 1980. He is survived by his parents Calvin and Nelda Watkins, brother Glen Edward Watkins, children, grandchildren and numerous family and friends.
In Lieu of flowers family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
