Ray Hambright
April 30, 1938 - November 28, 2018

Ray Benjamin Hambright passed away at 12:55am, Wednesday at his home with his family by his bedside.

He was born in Sheridon, Oregon to Zella and Ernest Hambright. He and his parents moved from Oregon to Washington, following his father's job as a welder; then to New Mexico and San Angelo, Texas.

Ray graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1956. He worked at the movie theater in San Angelo before enlisting in the United States Navy and working as an Interior Communication Electrician. His duty stations took him to Hawaii, Italy, Spain, Philippines, Japan and stateside to, Norfolk, Virginia, San Diego, California; Beeville, Texas, Kingsville, Texas, Los Angeles California, Chula Vista California, Charleston, South Carolina, and Great Lakes, Illinois.
He served his country for twenty years until his retirement in 1976. After his retirement, he went to work for Southwestern Bell, now AT&T, in Midland, Texas in 2001 as a draftsman. Ray retired from Southwestern Bell after twenty-five years of service. Upon retirement, Ray and his wife retired to their favorite lake place on Lake Spence near Robert Lee, Texas.

His family and friends were most loved by him. He had a German Sheppard named Dakota, who was thirteen years old, that he absolutely adored. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, working puzzles, playing games on his phone, and watching westerns on television.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ernie Sam Hambright, Darrell Dwight Hambright, and Ronny Dale Hambright; half-sister, Kathryn Spinnder.

Ray leaves behind his wife of fifty-six years, Ana Molina Hambright; daughter, Susan Denise Jensen; son, Randale Young Hambright; grandsons, Kevin Michael Hunter and Brian Anthony Jenson; granddaughter, Emily Jensen; nephews, Michael Hambright of Kansas and David Hambright of Odessa; numberous uncles and aunts.

Visitation will be held all day Friday, November 30, 2018 at the funeral home with family present from 6-8. Graveside services will be held at 2:30pm, Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Paint Creek Cemetery with military honors. There will be a meal immediately following the service at Dorothy and Roy Rogers Ranch located on South Wildcat Road. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
