In loving memory of

Issac Pate
January 13, 1929 - November 25, 2018

Isaac Booth Pate, Ike to friends and family, was born on January 13, 1929, in Columbus, Mississippi to Marvin and Lena Pate. He graduated from Sweetwater High School and attended Howard Payne University in Brownwood, TX on an athletic scholarship where he excelled as a Golden Glove boxer and track star.
Ike owned and operated Sportsman's Lodge Marina on Oak Creek Lake from 1959 to 1982, when he retired and sold the business to his son. He loved the lake and always had a "fishing story" to share. He and wife Darlene continued to live on the lake after their retirement. He loved talking to people, sharing his funny stories, but the family and close friends knew better than to discuss religion or politics with Ike.
Ike married the love of his life, Darlene Drewery, on May 28, 1949 in Sweetwater, Texas. She preceded him in death after 62 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents, sisters Velma Morris and Ann Huebel; along with brothers James Pate who was killed in WWII, and Floyd Pate.
He is survived by son Randall Pate and wife Ann of Blackwell, TX; Deborah Mulanax and husband Leonard of Sweetwater, TX; Lynn Pate of Bronte, TX; five grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and one sister Ruth Pate of Port Arthur, TX.
Above all, Ike loved the Lord, and was a loving husband to his wife, a wonderful Dad to his children and grandchildren, and a great friend to many.
Ike passed from this life to the glories of Heaven on November 25, 2018, after a short illness. Graveside services will be held November 28, 2018, at Fort Chadbourne Cemetery.
