In loving memory of

William McDaniel
October 21, 1923 - November 29, 2018

William Claud (Dub) McDaniel, Jr. died on November 29, 2018, at Sagecrest Care Center in San Angelo, Texas, at age 95. A celebration of Dub's life will be held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in San Angelo on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at 10:30 a.m.

Dub was born on October 21, 1923, in Chon, Texas, in the family home; the son of William Claud McDaniel Sr. and Eula Mae White McDaniel. After graduating from Iraan High School, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served aboard the SS John M. Bozeman during World War II. He began his professional career working for the Humble Oil Company and then built his own contract oil pumping service, McDaniel Pumping Company. His handshake was a rock-solid promise. He was admired for his honesty and his integrity all his life. He maintained a hearty sense of humor and saw the best in everyone he met. Dub lived life to the fullest and loved traveling, fishing, golf, square dancing, cigars, and his dogs. He was a life-long Dallas Cowboy fan, and people credit last week's win to Dub's coaching from heaven.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Zelma Mae Eversole McDaniel; his son, Dennis Allen McDaniel; and his brothers Brice McDaniel, Woodrow McDaniel, and Willard McDaniel.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Merry Lucile (M'Lu) McDaniel of San Angelo.

Also by his daughter, Dixie McAda, and her husband, Jim Bob, of San Angelo, and their children: Tarala and her husband Clarence Foley of San Angelo and their children, Meghan and Madison; Timothy McAda and his wife, Beth, of San Angelo and his son, Christopher McDaniel; Todd McAda and his wife, Cherese, of San Angelo and their children, Joshua and Randi.

Also by Dennis' three sons: Mark McDaniel and his wife, Kristen, of Denver, CO, and their children, Declan and Ellery; Matt McDaniel and his wife, Amy, of Mertzon, TX, and their children, Alexa and Will; and Christopher McDaniel of Mertzon, TX.

Also by his daughter-in-law Susan McDaniel and her husband Skipper Gaston.

Also by his stepson, Clayton Alred, Ph.D., and his wife, Catherine, of Ruidoso, NM, and their children: Steven Alred, M.D., and his wife, Allison Walker-Alred, M.D., of San Angelo; and Mollie Alred and husband, Greg Carter, of Austin, TX, and their daughter Anna Carter.

Also by his stepdaughter Candy McDaniel and her husband Michael Waters of Camp Hill, PA, and their children: David Shenk, Daniel Shenk and his wife, Becky, and Angelique Waters.

The family extends its appreciation to the staff at the Sagecrest Center for their devoted care, the church community at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, and the many friends Dub and M'Lu made throughout their lives together, especially the family of Weldon and Reanna Riley.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks individuals to make contributions to the charity of choice.
