Clarence Butterbaugh

Oskaloosa. Clarence Lynn Butterbaugh, 65, of Oskaloosa, died Sunday, November 25, 2018, at his home in Oskaloosa. He was born January 29, 1953, in Iowa City, the son of Delmar and Dorothy Anderson Butterbaugh. He attended Oskaloosa High School. Early on he drove a truck for Mich Coal Company out of Knoxville. On June 28, 1980, he was united in marriage to Barbara Montgomery at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oskaloosa. Clarence worked for Ozinga Feed in Oskaloosa and later Kelderman Manufacturing. Last, he owned and operated Chuck's Small Engine Repair in Oskaloosa, until retiring in 2003. He enjoyed rebuilding cars, going to the sprint car races, fishing, mushroom hunting, playing guitar, watching NASCAR, and cheering for the Minnesota Vikings. He delighted in spending time with his family and his pets.

His family includes his three children, Jenny Foster of Newton, Stephanie (Josh) Evans of Oskaloosa, and Jeff (Ashley) Butterbaugh of Oskaloosa; six grandchildren, Racheal Brasher, Lindsey Foster, Jayden Foster, Dylan Evans, Hailey Evans, and Bently Tolly; three brothers, Vern (Betty) Butterbaugh of Boone, Paul (Karen) Butterbaugh of Northfield, Minnesota, and John Butterbaugh of Iowa City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister and her husband, Nelda and Jim Heaton.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 29, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating. Burial will be in the Butler Cemetery west of Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 6-8 Wednesday evening to greet friends and relatives.
