Delores Mews
September 19, 1935 - March 18, 2008

Delores Ann Mews was born on September 19, 1935, in Heron Lake Township, Jackson County, Minnesota to the late Elmer F. and Elsie (Roesner) Bretzman. On October 13, 1935, Delores was baptized at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Heron Lake Township and later was confirmed in that same church in 1948. She received her early education in St. Peter's Parochial School and later attended Lakefield High School; graduating in the Class of 1953.

On May 16, 1954, Delores was united in marriage to Henry Gustav Mews at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Heron Lake Township. This marriage was blessed with two sons, Bruce and Perry. From 1954-1956, while Henry was in the military, Delores and Henry lived in Fort Campbell, Kentucky until 1956 when Henry was discharged and they moved to Christiania Township in Jackson County and then to Heron Lake Township. In 1960, they moved back to Christiania Township and in 1968, they moved to their current home on Cottonwood Lake Drive in Windom. From 1961 until 1991, Delores was a Feed Grain Clerk for the ASCS office in Windom before becoming owner/operator of La Boutique Clothing Store in Windom. In 1999, she retired and sold the store. Late last year, Delores was diagnosed with cancer and fought the disease courageously until passing away on Tuesday morning, March 18, 2008 at the age of 72.

Delores was a longtime, dedicated member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom where she was a lifelong choir member, and a member of the Ladies Aid and LWML. Outside of her church, Delores was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 206 Auxiliary in Windom where she was past president.

Delores' dedicated family who mourns her loss includes her husband of fifty-three years, Henry Mews of Windom; two sons, Bruce Allan Mews of Windom; Perry Lee Mews and his wife, Gina Ann of Fort Worth, TX; one grandson, Aaron and his wife,Teresa of Axle, TX; four great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Arlo Bretzman and wife, Violet of Windom; Eldo Bretzman of Windom; Audrey Jacobsen and husband, Harold of Lakefield; Lola Berdell and husband, Jerry of Odin; Frederick Bretzman and wife, Pat of Windom; Theodore Bretzman and wife, Pat of Lakefield; one sister-in-law, Joyce Bretzman of Lakefield; and many nieces and nephews.

Delores is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Elmer Bretzman; brother-in-law, John Heaton; sister-in-laws, June Bretzman, Murial Mews, and Marj Mews.
