Deloris Rae Kacmarynski
July 27, 1935 - December 31, 2018

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 4, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. Burial is in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the Joyce Funeral Home. Deloris Rae Kacmarynski was born July 27, 1935 in Jolley, Iowa, the daughter of Ray and Esther (Armstrong) Spiess. She was raised in Knoke and educated in Jolley. Following her education, she went to the Fort Dodge School of Beauty and received her cosmetology license. Deloris worked at Berkley's in Emmetsburg until they closed, and then she worked at Iowa Industrial in Pocahontas until she retired.

Her hobbies were knitting, sewing, counted cross stitch, baking and playing bridge. She enjoyed taking long walks with her neighbor Cathy and road trips to see her grandkids. Deloris was a loving mother, devoted wife and treasured her family more than anything.

On July 21, 1956, Deloris was united in marriage to Phillip Kacmarynski at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mallard, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm near Rolfe, Iowa where they raised their three children. In 2006, they retired and moved to Mallard.

On December 31, 2018, Deloris passed away peacefully at the West Bend Health and Rehab Center in West Bend, Iowa. She was 83.

Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Julie (Brad) Johnson of Lakewood, Colorado, JoAnn (Clem) Kern of Hastings, Minnesota and Jerry Kacmarynski of Agency, Missouri; five grandchildren: Derek and Cole Johnson , Kelly Kern, Kevin (Anna) Kern, Parish Kacmarynski; great-grandchildren: Luca Kern, Eli Kern; her brother, Marlin Spiess

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Phillip; two infant daughters: Mary Beth and Mary Esther; her father and mother-in-law, John and Mary Kacmarynski; sister, Sandie Barrett; brothers-in-law, Bernard Kacmarynski and Emmet Schmit and sister-in-law, Veronica Schmit
