William (Bill) L. Craig, 96, died peacefully in his home in New York City on December 28, 2019. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019, at 3:00 pm at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 619 Lexington Avenue, New York City. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Bertha Bartlett Library, 503 Broad Street, Story City, Iowa. Bill was born on July 23, 1922, to William A. and Evelyn (Valen) Craig at his home in Story City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bill graduated from Story City High School in 1940 and attended Iowa State College, Ames, Iowa, majoring in Architecture. During WWII, he sang in USO productions. An accomplished architect, musician, and composer, Bill enjoyed a career in real estate for more than 40 years representing residences in New York City and around the world. He was active in and supportive of many charities and cultural organizations. He treasured his involvement with The Little Orchestra Society, where he served as President of the Board. Bill will be remembered by his family and friends as a true gentleman, a remarkable musician, and a wonderful friend. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the "The Little Orchestra Society," 630 9th Avenue, Suite 807, New York City, New York 10036, or to a charity of your choice.
