Dixie Estelle Sloan

Dixie Estelle Sloan, 82, of San Angelo passed away peacefully on January 6, 2019 at her home in San Angelo. A Memorial Service has been scheduled for 11:00 AM Friday, January 11, 2019 at Freedom Fellowship Church with Pastor Harold Watkins presiding. Dixie was born on January 8, 1936 to Daniel and Marie (Smith) Hogue in San Angelo, Texas. She was raised in San Angelo and attended Lakeview High School until 1953. Following school, she went on to be a Certified Nursing Assistant at Park Plaza for many years. Dixie met Robert Sloan in 1978 and the two were married shortly after and spent many loving years together. She was a die hard sports fan who loved the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and NASCAR with Tony Stewart being her favorite. She loved watching her re-runs of "I Love Lucy" and old western movies. During her life, Dixie was very devoted to her family and she raised several of her grandchildren being known as "Mama", "Granny", and "Aunt Diddy". She will be remembered as a very selfless woman who was always a giver, if anyone needed anything, she would always go out of her way to help them. She was a devoted Christian woman and attended Freedom Fellowship for almost 20 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and her sons Gerald and Douglas Baldwin, brother Weldon Hogue and sisters JoAnn Martin, Penny Hogue and Martha Upshaw. Dixie is survived by her daughters Harriet Greear of Ballinger, and Donna Baldwin of San Angelo, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and loving church family.
