Candace "Candy" Lawlor
June 23, 1960 - January 7, 2019

Candace "Candy" Sue Lawlor, age 58, of rural Ames, passed away on January 7, 2019 at her home. Born on June 23, 1960 in Ames, Candy was the daughter of Gilbert Jr. and Nance (Cole) Bennett. She graduated from Audubon High School in 1978. Candy attended Kirkwood Community College and studied horticulture. She was united in marriage to Joseph Lawlor in Denison, Iowa on September 5, 1981. Candy was a homemaker most of her life. She was a warehouse volunteer for the Appalachia Committee, where she assisted with Joe's annual trip to Kentucky. Candy enjoyed anything outdoors and nature related. She also enjoyed gardening and camping. She also had a special love for her dogs. Candy is survived by her husband, Joe of rural Ames; her daughter, Samantha (T.J.) Adams of Nevada; four grandchildren: Aubrie Spevack-Adams, Craige Ernsperger, Mason and Quintyn Adams all of the Nevada area; two brothers: Ben (Janeen) Bennett and Rodney (Diane) Bennett, both of Boone; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Peggy Turner; and a brother, Larry Bennett. Per Candy's wishes, she has been cremated and private family services will be held at a later date.
