James Frank Vance
August 28, 1937 - January 8, 2019

James Frank Vance, 81, of Sheldahl went to his with his Savior after battling heart and kidney disease January 8, 2019 at Taylor House in Des Moines. Graveside services will be Saturday January 12 at 2:00 pm at the Slater City Cemetery. Jim was born on August 28, 1937 in Fullerton, California to Frank and Marion (Modie) Vance. His family moved to Independence, Missouri when he was 5 years old. He had many jobs, auto mechanic, food service director at FBBL, handy man at Wal-Mart etc. Jim could fix about anything and loved to invent better ways for things to work. He loved his family, collecting coins, working on cars, mowing, playing sudoko, and his dog Benny. Jim was a charter member of the Slater Baptist Church and was involved many ministries through the years. He loved mowing the church lawn. Jim leaves behind his wife Dorothy; his four children, Deb (Keith) Noelk, Cindy (Larry) Nilius, Steve (Jeanne) Vance and Brian (Lana) Vance; 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and a sister, Frances Potter. He will be missed greatly but we are thankful de is no longer suffering and is enjoying the wonders of heaven. Memorials may be sent to Slater Baptist Church.
