Averil Noami Lashly age 104, of Ames, went home to be with Jesus at Israel Family Hospice House on Jan 9, 2019. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Heartland Baptist Church 3333 Stange Road Ames, Iowa. Burial will be at a later date in Girard, Kansas.
Averil Lashly was born on Dec. 8, 1914 in Waterloo, Iowa to William J. and Lottie Myers. She attended school in Waterloo. She married Alfred Franklin on April 30, 1938 in Chicago, he preceded her in death in 1950 from complications of surgery. She worked at Rath Packing Company for 25 years before retiring in 1972. She married Joe Lashly in Oct. of 1958 in Waterloo, the couple resided in Waterloo until they moved to New Mexico in 1981, and Joe preceded her in death in 1996. She moved to Ames in 2009 to be close to her family.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patty (George) Muzzey, granddaughters, Debra Carr, Cheryl (Rickey) Thompson, grandson, David (Sandy) Muzzey, 13 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, nephew John (Barbara) Myers, and sister, Wilma.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, two sisters, Anita and Elaine, brother Orville Myers, grandson in law, Steve Ratton, and two great grandchildren.
