Jerry D. Mass, age 81, of Council Bluffs and formerly of Woodstock, Illinois passed away on January 9, 2019 at home, after a short battle with cancer. Jerry Mass was born on Feb 6, 1937 in Treynor, Iowa and graduated from Treynor High School in 1957. Jerry was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He completed basic training in 1959 in Fort Carson, Colorado and then served with the 50th Ordnance Co. in Kalserslautern, Germany as a mechanic until he was honorably discharged. Jerry worked for Woodstock Diecast and Conagra foods. He enjoyed fishing, camping and was an all-around avid sports fan. He was particularly fond of Chicago sports teams and watching his grandchildren play in sports. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 54 years, Sandra Mass and his 4 brothers. He is survived by his children, Tammy Mass of Council Bluffs, Kristine (Terry) Magnuson of McClelland, Iowa, Dennis (Pamela) Mass of Council Bluffs, Jerry (Julie) Mass of Braidwood, Illinois and Michael (Ana) Mass of Omaha, Nebraska; 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Stanley (Debbie) Mass of Woodstock, Illinois and Mark (Judy) Mass of Wonder Lake; sister, Eleanor (Edward) Station of Woodstock, Illinois and numerous nieces and nephews.
