John Folkl

John Folkl, 87, of Red Hook, NY, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY.

Born on July 13, 1931, in Yugoslavia, he was the son of the late Martin and Eva (Weigand) Folkl. John married Charlotte Maurin on January 19, 1957 at St. Joseph's Church in Hewlett, NY. Charlotte survives at home in Red Hook.

For many years and until his retirement in 1993, John worked as a toolmaker with Dorsey Gage in Poughkeepsie, NY.

John, along with his wife Charlotte, were members of Kingston Menner Chor, the Red Hook Senior Citizens, and the Southern Tier Senior Citizens.

In addition to his loving wife of 61 years, he is survived by his three sons, Robert John Folkl of East Schodack, NY, Thomas Carl Folkl of Monroe, NY, and Richard (Hua) Martin Folkl of New Canaan, CT; his 7 grandchildren, Kim Scarfo, Sean Folkl, Tyler Folkl, Erika Folkl, Brianna Folkl, Julia Folkl, and John Folkl; his 2 great grandchildren, Melania Scarfo and Liv Folkl, along with extended family and friends.

An older brother, Anton Folkl, predeceased him in 1992.

Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Sunday, January 13th, 2019 from 2 - 5 PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 15th , 2019 at 11 AM at St. Christopher's Church, Red Hook, NY. Father Patrick Buckley will officiate. Burial will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook.

Memorial donations may be made in John's memory to the Alzheimer's Assoc. Mid-Hudson Chapter, 2649 South Road, Suite 101, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601-4027.
