Theresa Wales
January 6, 1953 - January 10, 2019

Theresa Wales, 66, of Oskaloosa, died Thursday, January 10, 2019, at the MHP Hospital in Oskaloosa. Theresa was born Tuesday, January 6, 1953, in Tampa, Florida, the daughter of Donald and Carolyn Silvers Simmons. Theresa grew up in Oskaloosa and graduated from the Oskaloosa High School with the Class of 1971. In 1972 she was united in marriage to Steve Rexroth at the First Church of the Nazarene in Oskaloosa, they later divorced. Theresa attended the Vennard College and graduated in 1981. On October 1, 1983, she was united in marriage to John Wales at the Knoxville Church of the Nazarene and they later divorced.

Theresa worked at the Oskaloosa Produce and later went to work for Pella Corp. She worked there for 26 years before retiring in 2018. She was a member of the Woman's Club at the Assembly of God Church in New Sharon. She enjoyed attending her children's, and nieces and nephews sporting activities and band activities. She also enjoyed watching old western tv shows, NASCAR races and was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers. She also had an interest in her family genealogy. Her real joy in life was spending time with her family and friends.

Her family includes her three children, Doug Rexroth, Thomas Wales and Amanda Wales all of Oskaloosa; a grandson, DC Rexroth of Oskaloosa; her father, Donald William Simmons of Oskaloosa; two brothers, William Edward (Tracy) Simmons of Union, Missouri and Kenneth Wayne Simmons of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and a sister, Linda (Gary) Rupprecht of Fremont. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as many great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn Simmons; her grandparents and a sister, Patricia Simmons.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Assembly of God Church in New Sharon with Pastor Shane Farum officiating. Burial will be held in the Westfield Cemetery in Grinnell. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Monday, January 14, 2019 at 4:00 p.m.at the Bates Funeral Chapel with the family present from 4-7 Monday evening to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be given to the family.
