"To all the family members we want to send our sincere thoughts of your mothers passing. She attended church very regularly and I personally sat sometimes behind her. A wonderful lady and very devoted to whatever she did. We will certainly miss her and her smile and all her stories. I know she wanted to go home so badly and I knew she couldn't with the care she received at the home she was at. John Peter Cathy and families we truly will miss that lady. But I also know she will be resting peacfully now and probably looking over all of us and smiling that she has gone with her beloved husband. This was the way my own mother felt at the end. We should let them be with their wishes. Well I know John would like to talk to you boys but concrete is being poured for our new home in the country so maybe we can visit another time. Take care all of you."

"Dear John It's been many years since our paths last crossed on the floor of Kinnick Stadium but I can still remember your acrobatic entrance for the pregame shows as if it were yesterday. I recently lost my father to a failing heart so I feel your pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time and I do wish our paths could cross in the future. Perhaps an Alumni Band appearance wouldn't be out of the question? Again God's peace be with you. Sincerely Craig Witte '80"
