In loving memory of

Frances M. Steinberg
March 15, 1923 - March 16, 2011

Frances Margaret Bruns was born on March 15, 1923 in rural Titonka, IA to Ewald and Elizabeth Tjaden Bruns. Frances was baptized and confirmed and a member of the Good Hope Lutheran Church in Titonka. She attended German Valley schools, rural Titonka.

On November 21, 1957, Frances was united in marriage to Robert Steinberg at the Good Hope Lutheran Church in Titonka. They farmed north of Titonka for many years moving into Titonka in December of 1989. Frances moved to Forest Plaza Assisted Living in Forest City in July 2006 and then moved to Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake in July 2010.

Frances loved to visit with her family and friends and share a cup of coffee or tea. She always looked to the needs of others before her own needs. Frances loved watching cardinals when she was on the farm and starting a cardinal collection when she moved to town. Both Forest Plaza and Oakwood staff remember her clever wit and great sense of humor.

Frances died on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake, Iowa following a long illness. She was 88.

Frances is survived by her daughter, Lynda and husband Steve Nelson of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Galyn and wife Diane of Forest City, and Bruce and wife Julie of Clear Lake. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Angela and Chad Lappe of Forest City, Jessica and Greg Hulse of West Des Moines, Nicole and Cody Henniger of Forest City, James Steinberg of Fort Collins, CO, Matthew Nelson of Cedar Falls, and Stephanie Nelson of Cedar Rapids; three great-grandchildren, Haley and Logan Lappe of Forest City, and Chloe Henniger of Forest City, sister-in-laws, Alice Bruns of Titonka, Marlys Bruns of Titonka, Shirley Steenhard of Buffalo Center, and Olga Steinberg of Mapelton, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
