James "Jim" Comp
July 4, 1935 - June 20, 2019

MADISON-James "Jim" Comp, age 83, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2019, at the VA Hospital. He was born on July 4, 1935, in Milwaukee, the son of Sylvester and Helen (Payne) Comp. James served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Patricia Miller on Oct. 13, 1956, in Madison. James worked as a truck driver for 24 years and then drove for the Edgewater Limo for 19 years. He was a member of the VFW. James enjoyed swimming, collecting antique toys and trains, playing with his dogs, and spending time with his family and friends. James is survived by his wife; daughters, Lori (Joseph) Walsh and Marci (Paul) Lord; sons, Donald Comp and Raymond Comp; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and his dog, Louie. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Katie Comp; sister, Joyce York; and two brothers, Ralph Comp and John Comp. A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2019. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. The family would like to thank Dr. Grogan and staff at the VA Hospital for their excellent care and compassion for Jim. Memorials may be made to the Dane county Humane Society.
