In loving memory of

James F. Vincent, Sr.
February 20, 1920 - June 9, 2010

Madison lost one of its most enthusiastic citizens Wednesday. James Franklin Vincent Sr. passed away comfortably in his sleep at 3:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 9, 2010. Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ann, his brother, Jack, four sons and their families: Jim Jr. (Carole), sons Kerwin and Torrance; Tom (Laura) and son Edward; David (Michele) and children Erich, Tara, Brooke and Blake; Richard and children Trisan and Shauna and great-grandchild Soljin.

"I've had the perfect life", was one of Jim's last comments. Jim was born February 20, 1920, in Hastings, Minnesota, to Vera (Torrance) and Ralph Vincent. He graduated from Wisconsin High and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was a veteran of the U.S.Navy, serving in 1944 as a naval air observer. He married the love of his life, Ann (Koch) Vincent and shared 65 wonderful years of marriage with her. He often reflected, "How lucky could I be to marry a girl like Ann Vincent".

Jim worked for over 50 years as a Certified Life Underwriter and Financial Advisor for Lincoln National Life, and was proud to have had many loyal and satisfied clients. Jim was active in various service agencies, especially the Madison West Rotarians, where he was a member for 47 years and served as president from 1975 to 1976. He also served as President of the Madison Scouts Advisory Council and on the Board of the Bethel Lutheran Church.

Jim enjoyed extensive travels in his life including trips to Europe, Mexico, the Orient, Australia, New Zealand and throughout the United States. He also took pleasure in golfing, spending time with his family and playing cards (his grandchildren called him the "City Cribbage Champ"). Jim could always be counted on to tell an amusing story.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the nurses at Oakwood and Hospice Care, who were so wonderful to Jim and their family.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 1:00 PM at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. Visitation will be one hour prior. Memorial donations may be made to Bethel Media Ministry or Hospice Care.

"To the family of Jim Vincent: I was deeply saddened to read the obituary in this morning's State Journal about a long-time friend and neighbor from my growing up years on Clifden Drive. I have such wonderful and lasting memories of all the Vincent family! You were such a warm and loving family and contributed to many good moments in my years living in this westside neighborhood. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time in your lives. Sincerely, Anne (Schmitz) Fraundorf Cuba City, WI"
