Roman Von Brooks, the son of DeVontae and Brittany (Valvick) Brooks of Chicago, IL, was born on July 11, 2019, at 6:19 AM, baptized July 21st, and met the eyes of Jesus in the arms of his parents on August 1st, 2019.
Roman loved his mama's sweet kisses and daddy's story times. He was a favorite in the Christ Advocate NICU and many nurses requested to care for him.
He is survived by his paternal grandparents Marty Bea and Shelly Brooks, of Quad City, IL; maternal grandparents Arlyn and Annette Valvick of Swea City, IA; great grandfather Irving Valvick of Ledyard, IA; aunts and uncles Mitch Bea, Monica Bea, Marcus Devine, Montreal Devine and Chana Myers; aunts MiKayla (Furey Leva), Genna (Aaron Hayes), and Alexis Valvick; and many extended aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by great grandparents, Earnest and Clova Bea, William and Earnestine Brooks, A.J and Geneva Poppe, Helen Valvick; and uncle Brandon Brooks, Sr.
Roman gave us a lifetime of love during his short time on earth. He had the most courageous strength to fight against the very rare Vein of Galen malformation. Roman was a blessing to all who had the pleasure to meet him and has touched many more lives of those he did not. His family is honored to carry on his legacy and will continue to advocate and spread awareness for the children and families impacted by the Vein of Galen.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 7th, at 2:00 PM, at City Church of Chicago, 777 N. Green St., Chicago, IL 60642. Private family graveside services will be held in Chicago.
