Austin Matthew Goodrich was born June 6, 1998 in Des Moines to Angela Schoebel and Matthew Goodrich. He died August 10, 2019 in Des Moines as the result of a motorcycle accident. Austin was able to bless others as an organ and tissue donor.
Austin graduated from Van Meter High School in 2017. He worked as a heavy machinery operator at J & K Contracting. Austin enjoyed being outdoors: camping, kayaking, fishing, hunting, rock collecting, flying, and exploring nature. Most recently, he took a snowmobiling trip to Jackson Hole, WY with Sterling Bean.
Austin was preceded in death by his great-grandparents: Galen and Grace Sandeman, Dale and Mona Goodrich, Oren and Mildred Abbott; and his grandmother, Sherie Goodrich. He is lovingly remembered by his parents, Matt Goodrich and Angie and Jason Schoebel; brothers: Zac Goodrich, Gavin Goodrich, and Jax Schoebel; nephew, Travis Goodrich; grandparents: Jerry and Kathy Goodrich and Debbi and David Swadley; great-grandparents, Elaine and Wayne Swadley; aunts and uncles: Roxanne and Mike Book, Jason and Christie Goodrich, Steve and Jessica Goodrich, Brandon and Kristi Swadley, and Jeff and Michelle Whitt; cousins: Jordan, Jake, Derek, Devin, Ella, Sam, Ava, Presley, Piper, Lily, Luke, Finn, Leyton, Carly, Olivia, Jackson, and Henry.
A celebration of Austin's life will be held at Earlham Church of Christ on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow at Earlham Community Center. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving live plants or a memorial donation.
