On September 2, 1931 at the Hand Hospital in Shenandoah, Iowa a daughter was born to Beril M. and Elizabeth M. (Wilson) Pinckley, she was named Josephine Mae. Jo entered into eternal peace at her home in Omaha, Nebraska on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 surrounded by her three nieces; Barb Vaughn, Pam Erikson and Jo Ann Duff.

Jo graduated as Salutatorian of her high school class in 1949 at the age of 17. She entered University of Nebraska College of Nursing and completed her schooling on June 3, 1952. After passing her state boards for nursing, she still had to wait until she turned 21 years old to start her career as a Registered Nurse. So she worked as a private sitter for patients at University Hospital in Omaha. On September 1, 1952 she was able to formerly begin her career as a R.N. She continued her work with University Hospital until her retirement in April of 1996. Jo worked as a staff nurse, head nurse, house supervisor, assistant director of nursing where she assisted in the planning and procurement of all equipment for a new patient wing and ended her career as Assistant Director of Training.

After retirement she felt busier then ever. She traveled with her niece Jo to nursing school reunions and to visit family out of state. Jo Ann and Jo lived at her home in Omaha and also maintained the family home in Shenandoah. She always said she didn't have children or grandchildren of her own to brag about just a lot of nieces and nephews. Although a great niece and nephew called her Grandma. Jo was also an avid Nebraska Cornhusker Fan!

Since her diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease her two nieces Jo Ann and Pam have cared for her at home. She was preceded in death by her parents; twin brother Joseph, older brother Ellery "Bud" and three older sisters and their spouses Doris (Joe) Duff, Thelma (WJim) Rockwell and Faye (Alvin) Dalrymple; great-niece Zoe Ann Dalrymple and nephew Robert Dalrymple. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews and her two dogs Marley Joe and Maggie Mae.
