"I have always love Fran. I remember selling her Camp Fire candy when she first moved to Forest Lake. My best membor of Fran was the Easter Vigil Mass several years ago. I was sitting among the sweet older ladies. The lights went out and it was time to light our candles(the reason I go to that particular mass). I was helping the ladies who were not quite not seeing just what they were doing with their shaky hands waving all around, and Fran announced, (out loud of course), If they would turn on the damn lights we could see what we are doing. Every year since the almost fire, I remember that very special mass and say a prayer for all the 'little old' ladies here and deceased, especially FRAN. I will miss her and her love of life. "

"Goodbye to my Gram, Francis Phyllis Grun. Kind and warm hearted, she went to lie down. In the green forest, near the lake waters. She makes no more sound. Her arms held me tightly, for so many years. Her ??Hey little boy!?, I shall no longer hear. She is in Jesus?? arms, and he is talking to her. With each word, signing just the first letter. I know she is at peace, in the land of delight. But I miss my Grandma, tonight. Goodbye Grandpa Al, brother Ralph and sisters too. Goodbye infant Luke, who left us too soon. Goodbye to my Grandma, who went to lie down. And is now gone. Whose feet are these, nails all worn through the sock? Walked the dogs, at a churchly pace. Gave us corn, to fish from the dock. ??What the Sam Hell!?, when the ball hit her face. Whose hands are these, had made cookies and bars? Frozen in wax paper, and double zip-locked. Grated ??Aunt Minis?, and salted them long. Led us all, in the German Ya-Ya song. Thank you Gram, the Lord give you peace. Bless your voice, and the swe--songs you??ve sung. Bless your arms, your hands, and your knees. How wonderful you loved us, when we were young. The Lord is my shepherd, I??ll no more want. Loved my Gram, Pa, uncles and aunts. Lake waters so still, and forests so green. Her goodness and mercy, following me. Gram??s goodness and mercy, follow you too. "

"She was always Grandma Grun to us, even though we were just neighbors. Our memories will always be of her being very thoughtful & helpful to all. One of a kind. "

Jenni Corbett wrote on Apr 5, 2011:

"At 90 years old, Gram trekked out to the Winter Carnival Ice Palace for our wedding pictures in 2004. It was 20 degrees but sunny, the crowd was huge. To the best of my knowledge, she didn't complain! What a trooper, she will be missed but her stories will live on as we share them with our son, Matthew Alphonse."

"There is so much we'll miss about Gram from her smile to kindness to her bars and cookies. She was an original who will be missed. She is now an angel in heaven watching over us and we are better for having her in our lives."

"Anyone who knows Gram, knows she is one-of-a-kind. Selfless, giving, memorable. Some of my favorite memories: Gram is the best directory assistance resource ever. Whenever I needed an address or phone number of someone, She would look it up for you instantly and after she told you the info, she would ALWAYS say "READ IT BACK", usually several times. I always loved that about her! Quotes: "Cut that out back there, I don't have time to drive you to the emergency room!" Memories: Orange Crush in the bottles or other pop in her basement refrigerator. Dairy Queen runs. Monster cookies and german chocolate bars that were wrapped in at least two if not three ziplock bags, wax paper and even shipped to you at college or elsewhere on special occations."
