Loren Paul Bell was born April 5, 1926, at Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Robert and Anna (Schmeling) Bell. Loren attended Algona High School then enlisted in the United States Army. He received an honorable discharge in August, 1945, returned to Algona and began working for Dreesman Produce. He worked there for 17 and a half years before working at Snap-On Tools for 25 years. He retired from there in 1988. On May 29, 1953, Loren was united in marriage to Bonnie Ketelsen at Peace Lutheran Church in West Bend.
Loren was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona, a member of the American Legion Hagg-Turner Post #90 in Algona and a former member of the Saddle Club. Loren enjoyed dancing to old time music, enjoyed westerns on TV as well as dog shows and always had time for a cup of coffee with a friend. Loren's greatest love was his animals. He loved having the school children come out to the farm to see his animals. He also enjoyed attending horse sales and shows, county fairs and hillbilly sales.
Loren became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society ~ Algona, and died there on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at the age of 85.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie of Algona; son Chuck and wife Eileen of Algona and son Bill and wife Lori of Marshall, Minneosta. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Emily, Andrew and Jonathon, as well as sisters-in-law, Patty Gronbach of Algona and Kathy and her husband Bob Bovy of Verona, Wisconsin. Loren was preceded in death by his parents.
