Walter J. Swietlik

THE HONORABLE WALTER J. SWIETLIK

Our beloved husband and father, Walter Swietlik, was born to Eternal Life April 21, 2005 at the age of 70. He was born in Milwaukee on April 20, 1935, son of the late Francis and Marie Czerwinski Swietlik. He moved to Port Washington to start his law career and lived in Fredonia for the past 25 years.

Walter was married to Barbara (nee Burbach) on July 11, 1959 in Milwaukee. Together they enjoyed traveling, golf, and spending time with their children and grandchildren. He was a loving father to Walt Jr. (Kelly) Swietlik of Cedarburg, Susan (Fernando) Bermeo of Ecuador, Sally (John) Payne of Kansas City and Michael (Therese) Swietlik of Cedarburg and "Grampy" to nine adoring grandchildren. He is further survived by two brothers Frank (Phyllis) Swietlik of Brookfield and John (Joanne) Swietlik of Mequon, two sisters Dorothy (Dr. Tom) Puchner of Menomonee Falls and Marie Swietlik of Mequon and one sister in law Clare (the late Joseph) Swietlik of Whitefish Bay.

Walter graduated from Marquette University High School, Marquette University and Marquette Law School. He was a proud supporter of his alma maters and especially enjoyed keeping in touch with his classmates. After graduating from Law School, Walter began his career as an attorney in Port Washington. He later served as District Attorney for Ozaukee County, was in private practice, and was a Circuit Court Judge for Ozaukee County for 23 years before his retirement in 2002.

Walter will be remembered for his generous heart, strong devotion to his family, and love of life. He was a friend. a mentor, and a devoted Catholic who lived his life according to his faith.

He was a member of Holy Rosary Parish, the Port Washington-Saukville Rotary Club, the Wisconsin Bar Association, Ozaukee County Bar Association, and the Knights of Columbus.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 25, 10 AM at Holy Rosary Parish, Holy Cross Chapel, 5330 Hwy. B, Belgium. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Washington. Visitation Sunday from 4-8 PM at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Marquette University High School, Borja Jesuit High School in Ecuador or charity of choice appreciated.
