Betty Stokes
November 20, 1925 - August 29, 2019

Betty Jean (Hoffman) Stokes, 93, passed away in Indianapolis on August 29, 2019. She was born on November 20, 1925 in Midland, IN where she also grew up. She is predeceased by her parents Opha (Lammey) Hoffman and Fred Hoffman and brothers Charles and Fred. She is survived by a sister Margie Hays, daughter Cheryl (Stokes) Hagelberg (Richard), 2 sons Mark (Christina) and Michael (Anita) and 4 grandchildren, Ashley Stokes, Abbey Stokes, Jeffrey Hagelberg and Corey Hagelberg.

Betty married the love of her life, William Stokes on October 4, 1946 In Kokomo, Indiana, and they were together for 63 years until his death in 2010. Betty was a long time member of Crooked Creek Baptist Church in Indianapolis. She loved to cook and bake and is especially remembered for her delicious desserts. Betty made wonderful noodles from scratch and mashed potatoes for every holiday. She was an avid glassware collector and especially loved teapots. She worked for 20 years at the Delaware Trails School cafeteria.

A funeral service will be held in Betty's honor at 2p.m. on Monday, September 2, 2019 at Crown Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, from 12p.m. to 2p.m. A private burial will take place on Tuesday, September 3, 2019. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
