On February 16, 1954, Jarrett Ray Harms was born to Glenn E and Eleanor (Wright) Harms in Shenandoah, Iowa. His youth was spent in Shenandoah from which many a story arose about the fun and sports games played by the whole neighborhood. In 1972 he graduated from Shenandoah Community High School.

On November 21, 1974 he was joined in marriage to Jacqueline M. Laughlin. They were blessed by two children Jason R Harms and Amanda M (Harms) Wiltz. Jarrett worked at Tyler Bottling Co, MidContinent Bottling Co, Eaton Corporation and spent the last 25 years working faithfully at Pella Rolscreen Co achieving recognition for his continuous work record. He treasured the relationships he had with his co-workers.

Jarrett was a faithful and loyal man who enjoyed his family and friends. Fishing trips to Canada and hunting in the Loess Hills with friends and family were cherished memories of his and the source of many stories. He also loved gardening and working in the yard creating beautiful flower beds and landscapes. He loved nature. He also appreciated good music and was often found listening to one of his favorite bands. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and following their activities. He might have been known to "brag" a little bit about his grandchildren. He was a wonderful, devoted husband, father, grandpa, son, brother and friend and he will be sorely missed.

Jarrett was preceded in death by his father Glenn E Harms and mother Eleanor I Harms. Left with many cherished memories are his wife Jacqueline (Jackie) Harms, son Jason Harms and daughter in law Michelle, daughter Amanda (Mandi) Wiltz and son in law Chad, sister Marla Worthington and brother in law Joe, four grandchildren Gabriella Harms, Isabella Harms, Jada Wiltz, and Jackson Wiltz as well as many friends and family members. We are comforted that he is now at peace in Christ in his Father's loving arms.

Gary L. Jones, Lincoln Nebraska wrote on Sep 9, 2019:

"Jarrett was all that my brother Danne mentioned. He taught us to throw and catch and built us a pole vault pit ,which in 5th grade I brought home 2nd place ribbon, he was as proud as me. The home run derby games, basketball and scrambling for money for equipment that he and we thought we should have, always a smile and quick wit. The tree his Dad planted for the Jones's still stands mighty today, Just a real super person and huge part of my early childhood, Thanks Jarrett"

Danne Jones wrote on Sep 9, 2019:

" We were fortunate to live down the street by the Harm?s family?s home. Jarrett was as good as someone can be. Yes, he was a natural athlete. Yes, he was kind to us smaller kids. He was very intelligent, humorous person who taught my brother and I very much about and life, and being good people. He was stubbornly independent and ?right?most of the time. One time a neighborhood baseball game produced a broken window.... The field cleared and players scattered in fear. Jarrett walked a straight line to the house to explain the incident. I was never so proud and bit ashamed that I had to quit hiding .....to follow him. Again, a humble, intelligent, natural athletic talent, who loved his family. Shenandoah was the beneficiary and better for him being there. We will miss knowing he is not there in body. I loved him so much! We are so very sorry for the family?s and Shenandoah?s significant loss. Danne E. Jones Des Moines P.S. He would have made a top notched storm chaser too... for the Weather Channel "
