H. Carroll Van Hove, the son of Henry and Dorothy (Intermill) Van Hove, was born December 31, 1936 at home in Kossuth County, Iowa. On July 5, 1957 Carroll was united in marriage to Leona Heitland, the gal he met at the Buffalo Center Skating Rink before he went into the Army. They were married at the First Congregational Church and were blessed with two daughters, Cindy and Bonnie. Carroll loved the girls and then the blessings of three granddaughters and one grandson. In the past few years he had great joy with his eight great-grandchildren.

Carroll was baptized and confirmed at the Ramsey Reformed Church in rural Titonka and currently a member of the First Congregational Church. He attended Country School, Titonka High School, and received his diploma from North Iowa High School.
Right after his 18th birthday he enlisted in the United States Army for three years and after his tour in Korea he was stationed at Fort Still in Oklahoma City until the end of 1957.

Carroll had two milk routes each day picking up milk for six years for the Buffalo Center Creamery, trucked for Fiber Glass Company, Allis Chalmers, Jensvolds, and VanHorns and then did corn shelling, hay stacking until 1977 when he started farming, his lifelong desire. In 1988 he started driving school bus which he drove for 27 years and he kept helping farmers with their field work.

Carroll enjoyed his collecting of original corn company caps, small John Deere tractors and especially keeping up his 630 John Deere with all original parts and two plows. He also kept busy with many woodworking projects for his family.
Carroll has served on the Church Board, member of the Fire Department, Lions Club, VFW and the American Legion. His greatest memory was in July 2018 when he and Leona went on an honor flight to South Korea.
