Cindy Lou Rathje, 60, of Charlotte, Iowa passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, October 20, 2019. Funeral services take place at 11 am on Thursday, October 24, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Dr.). A visitation occurs from 4 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, October 23, at the funeral home. Burial takes place at Rossiter Cemetery, Charlotte. Honoring Cindy's wishes, please wear Hawkeye's or Cubs apparel to the services. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Cindy was born May 12, 1959 in Maquoketa, Iowa the daughter of Harold and Reva (Clothier) Ready. She was a 1977 graduate of Northeast High School. Cindy was united in marriage to Dale Rathje on August 16, 1980 in Charlotte, Iowa.

Cindy was baptized at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Charlotte, Iowa. She began her career as a Caregiver and acquired a CMA license and concluded her career working at Northeast Elementary School in the kitchen. Cindy was a first responder for Charlotte Volunteer Fire Department and was also a member of the Charlotte Volunteer Fire Department Women's Auxiliary.

Cindy loved going for rides in her yellow 1968 Plymouth Fury III. She also enjoyed visiting the Casino with friends and family and taking golf cart rides through Charlotte. She loved fishing in Sabula and loved watching the Cubs and the Hawkeyes. At the end of the day, she enjoyed socializing with family and friends at the Charlotte watering hole - "Dad's Place". Above all she loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren, and will be incredibly missed.

Cindy is survived by her husband Dale of Charlotte; daughters - Stephanie (Ed) Kinney of Clinton and Brittany (Erik) Meidlinger of Waldorf, Maryland; grandchildren - Jaycee and Knox at home; siblings - Rose Eggers of Preston, Bub (Sue) Ready of Clinton, Dick (Judy) Ready of Clinton, Patricia Miller of Preston, Mike (Terri) Ready of Clinton; Sandy (Dennis) Hosette of Clinton; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding Cindy in death were her parents and three sisters - Jean Yaddof, Linda Appleman and June Reader.
