John "Jack" McPherson
Mr. Jack McPherson passed away Monday morning, May 10, 2010 at Samaritan Health Center in West Bend where he had resided the last 3 years. He was 94 years old. Jack was born November 28, 1915 in Milwaukee, the son of William and Mary Cullaton McPherson. He graduated from Washington High School in Milwaukee in 1933. On November 22, 1941, he was united in marriage with Maud Powers in Milwaukee. She preceded him in death in 2003. Jack worked as a lithographer for various companies in Milwaukee before retiring in 1978 to become an avid golfer, billiards player, and most importantly a soccer grandpa. Mr. McPherson was a former member of the McKinley Lodge, Tripoli Temple and Scottish Rite. He was an avid football and baseball fan, enjoyed traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jack is survived by 2 daughters: Patricia (Michael) Draeger of Grafton and Mary (Gerald) Broitzman of Milwaukee, 4 grandchildren: Scott (Katie) Draeger of West Bend, Jennifer Draeger of Cedarburg, Jerry (Dorothy) Broitzman of Milwaukee and Kristen (Hideo) Kajiwara of New Jersey; 3 great-grandchildren: Maximus, Leopold and Mary Kate Kajiwara, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Mary, his wife Maud, special aunt Rose Amon and 2 brothers: Bill and Ted. Private family services were held. Jack was laid to rest beside his wife at Highland Memorial Park in New Berlin. The Eernisse Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. "Grandpa Jack was the only grandfather I had growing up. I thank him for showing me how to overcome adversity. I will miss his incredibly sharp memory (too sharp sometimes) and his equally sharp sense of humor. I hope to retain both of these traits as I continue on life's journey. Rest in peace, Grandpa Jack.
