Lisa Bullington Schaffner

Lisa Bullington Schaffner, 59, of Westfield, passed away unexpectedly on November 27, 2019 in Carmel, Indiana.

Lisa was born in Fayetteville, TN to Tom and Jean (Black) Bullington on March 18th, 1960. She married Tom Schaffner on April 7th, 1984 in her home town of Fayetteville, TN. They then lived in Indianapolis and started a family. She worked as a stay-at-home mom to provide a happy and loving childhood for her three daughters. She also worked at Hallmark, and Christopher & Banks for several years, where she never met a stranger, so enjoying talking with all her customers. Being GiGi to her 5 grandchildren was where she shined the most. Her love for them and their love for her was and is something truly special. Lisa was a big fan of Auburn University, specifically their football team. She loved Auburn University so much that she named her beloved Chihuahua after it. Auburn and Lisa were very close, and he will miss her greatly.

Lisa had a special place in her heart for those with disabilities. As a young adult, she taught swimming lessons to children with developmental disabilities and remembered that experience fondly. She also had a big heart for animals, which she got from her father who was a veterinarian to both small and large animals. She also loved Christmas time, cleaning, Yankee Candles, and ice cream, but her biggest love of all was her family, especially her grandchildren.

Lisa is preceded in death by her father, Dr. Thomas H. Bullington and her sister Tulah Wray Bullington Tidwell.

Lisa is survived by her husband of 35 years, Tom Schaffner; children, Susanna Falkmann (Nathan), Lauren Harney (Adam) and Haileigh Schaffner; siblings Dinah Richardson, Betty Brown (Rich), Tommy Bullington and Amy Cooper (Bruce); Mother, Jean Black Bullington; Grandchildren Layla, Sawyer, Gwen, Noelle and Harper; and by 13 nieces and nephews.

Visitation, the funeral, and burial will all be located at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th Street Indianapolis, IN 46208. Visitation will be held from 6pm to 8pm, Tuesday December 3rd. Funeral services will be held the following day, Wednesday, December 4th at 11am, with burial immediately following at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to The Humane Society of Hamilton County or The Special Olympics.
