Dilman E. Stock

Dilman E. Stock, age 83 of Monroe, died Friday, May 6, 2011 at Skiff Medical Center - Monarch Wing in Newton. Celebration of life services will be held on Monday, May 9, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Monroe at 10:30 a.m. The family will be present following the service to greet friends during a luncheon at the church. Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church of Monroe, Monroe Emergency Unit or Hospice of Jasper County. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.


The son of Earl and Effie (Mollencamp) Stock, Dilman Earl Stock was born on November 8, 1927 in Dumont, Iowa. Dilman grew up in the Hampton area and attended Hampton High School. He was a proud member of the United States Army. On April 17, 1949 Dilman was united in marriage with Frances Mason at the Little Brown Church and later that year on November 21, Dilman accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Dilman worked for the United States Postal Service as a Rural Carrier. He also spent time working as an auctioneer. Dilman loved life and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Monroe American Legion Post and attended First Baptist Church of Monroe

Those left to honor Dilman's memory are his wife, Frances Stock of Newton; daughter-in-law, Judith Stock of Monroe; two grandsons, Jeffrey (Tracy) Stock of Bellevue, NE and Jason (Stephanie) Stock of Monroe; eight great-grandchildren, Collin, Taylor, Avery, Dillon, Owen, Riley, Emma, and August Stock; one brother, Lowell (Patricia) Stock of Hampton; two sisters, Carol (Richard) Miller of Mesa, AZ and Luella (Jerry) Miller of Hampton; and one sister-in-law, Lois Stock of Dumont. Dilman was preceded in death by his parents, son, Randall "Randy" Stock, two sisters, Maxine Stock and Virginia Rodgers, and one brother, Frances Stock.
