Bernice L. Henton
October 15, 1923 - July 15, 2004

Bernice L. Henton age 80 of Maquoketa Iowa died Thursday morning July 152004.0 at the Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa Iowa after a

lingering illness.



A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 P.M. Monday July 192004.0 from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa Iowa. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 P.M. on Sunday July 182004.0 from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa Iowa where a 6 P.M. American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Service will be held. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery Maquoketa Iowa.



Bernice L. Kokemuller was born on October 15 1923 in Maquoketa Iowa to Louie Kokemuller and Eva (Saunders) Kokemuller. She was a 1941 graduate of Maquoketa Community High School. She married Glen W. Red Henton on August 30 1941 in Kahoka Missouri.



Bernice first worked as an executive secretary at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa for 17 years. She then worked as an executive secretary for the Jackson County draft board for several years.



Bernice had a love for music and entertained throughout the area with her husband Glen Red Henton and their musical group. She had also traveled extensively with her husband for several years during his horseshoe pitching career. In 1974 she traveled with him to South Africa Italy France and England on a horseshoe tour.



Bernice not only enjoyed playing keyboards in their band but she also enjoyed going to garage sales bowling and animals- especially her poodles. She also loved being with and spending time with her family.



Bernice was a lifetime member of the American Federation of Musician's and a member of the Fulton Community Church VFW Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Ladies Auxiliary & the Fulton Aid Society.



She is survived by: her husband- Glen Red Henton of Maquoketa IA; children- Judith Ann (Dan) Byam of Clinton IA & Nancy Jane (Dr. Robert) Scholl of Cedar Rapids IA; 5 grandchildren & 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.



In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Jackson County Humane Society or the Fulton Community Church.
