William C. Bill Bruck
February 14, 1925 - November 12, 2009

William C. “Bill” Bruck84.0 of rural LaMotte Iowa died on Thursday November 122009.0 at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue Iowa.


A celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday November 162009.0 from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 P.M. on Sunday November 152009.0 from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa Iowa. Burial will be at the Holy Rosary Cemetery in LaMotte Iowa where military rites will be accorded.


William C. “Bill” Bruck was born on February 14 1925 in Portsmouth Iowa. He was the sixth child of William and Clara (Windeshausen) Bruck. He grew up in the Portsmouth area and became a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy. After being honorably discharged he moved to the LaMotte area visiting relatives and looking for work. It was here that he met his future wife Mildred M. Roussel. They were married on August 6 1946 in LaMotte Iowa.


Bill first worked as a mechanic in downtown LaMotte. He then farmed in the LaMotte area for over 55 years.


Bill was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. He had been a past board member and treasurer for the LaMotte Telephone Company for many years and co-founder and treasurer for the LaMotte Community Fire Department for 54 years. He also was a member of the Bellevue American Legion Post #273 and been a salesman for Pride (Northrup King) for many years. 


Bill enjoyed camping golfing square dancing and playing cards especially euchre. He was a loving caring husband and father. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were especially important to him.


Bill is survived by his wife Mildred Bruck of Bellevue IA; a daughter Carol (Dale) Manderscheid of Bellevue IA; 3 grandchildren Michael (Kathie) Manderscheid Jennifer (Michael) Ambrosy and Tanya (Chad) Roeder; 8 great-grandchildren Jacob Jevin and Avery Manderscheid Brandon and Hannah Ambrosy Camden Mitchell and Madalyn Roeder; and sisters Helen Langenfeld of Spencer IA and Clara (Dick) Carroll of Harlan IA.  He was preceded in death by his parents 5 sisters Rita Mary Joan Joyce and Joann and 5 brothers Mike Joseph Nick Neil and Mark.


In lieu of other expressions of sympathy a William C. “Bill” Bruck memorial fund has been established.


The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Mill Valley Care Center and also Lisa Rose Barb and Laura from Hospice of Jackson County for all their special care.
