Mary E. Boatwright Steward
Mary was born May 14th -- 1923 to Jerome Boatwright and Evelyn L. Trevitt. She was raised in West Point, Iowa by her grandfather Dr. E.L. Trevitt. She attended grade school in West Point and graduated from East High School in Des Moines, Iowa.

The family moved back to West Point and she worked in the Clerk of Court office under Clarence Hull and also worked at Sheaffer Pen Co. in Ft. Madison, Iowa.

She married Harry Steward Jr. in Ft. Madison on November 14, 1943.

Her hobbies included crocheting, playing Bingo and she loved camping with her family. Her crochet work has been sent as far as England and Germany.

She enjoyed her cat Pepe which she had for many years.

She is survived by 14 children: Mary Lou (Lyle) Lavine, Phoenix, Arizona, Gary (Jena) Steward, Debbie Steward, Eddie (Vickie) Steward, Danny Steward, all of Burlington, Iowa, Harry Dean Jr. (Kathy) Steward, Phoenix, Arizona, Ginny (Wes) Smith Burlington, Iowa, Donnie (Pam) Steward, Sperry, Iowa, Terri (Mike) Crowner, Burlington, Iowa, Nancy (Brian) Carlson, Galesburg, Ill., Kim (Lori) Steward, Burlington, Iowa, Tammy Diewold, West Burlington, Iowa, Billy Steward, Canton, Missouri, and Amy (Chuy) Garcia of Fort Madison, Iowa.

Mary was especially proud of the fact that she had 91 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Harry, parents, 2 sons, 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 24th, in Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

The funeral service for Mary Steward will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 25th, in Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Dean Graber officiating. Interment will be in Denmark Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the family in memory of Mary.
