Merle M. Simmons
April 18, 1937 - August 13, 2020

Merle M. Simmons, born April 18, 1937, passed away August 13, 2020.

He was born in Pisgah, Iowa in the same house his mother was born in. He was born to Harry and Agnes (Baker) Simmons. He was the younger of two children.

He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School, Council Bluffs in 1955. After graduation he went to work for the Illinois Central Railroad where he met his wife Mariann Pullman. They were united in marriage on February 21, 1959 at the United Methodist Church in Sidney, Iowa. Two children were born to this union ~ Mark and Marcia.

They lived most of their life in Farragut, Iowa where he worked for the city. They then retired to Mountain Home, Arkansas. In 2015 they moved closer to family due to Merle's health where he eventually passed away at home.

Merle was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marlene.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Mariann; son Mark and wife Teresa of Shenandoah, Iowa; daughter Marcia and husband David Yount of Nelson, Missouri; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Private Family Memorial Graveside Service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
