In loving memory of

Pauline (Schoening) Plautz
February 1, 1924 - September 10, 2020

Pauline RoseMary Plautz was born near Mineola, Iowa to Otto and Helene (Denker) Schoening on February 1, 1924, the youngest of nine children. She passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2020 in Shenandoah, Iowa at the age of 96 years.

Pauline was raised on the family's farm where she was born. She began her education at Sand Hollow School in rural Mills County, and later graduated from Glenwood High School in 1942. Following graduation Pauline moved to Shenandoah and was employed at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company.

On June 19, 1947, Pauline married Elden C. "Bud" Plautz at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mineola. The couple made their home in Shenandoah. They became the parents of a daughter, Carla.

Through the years, Pauline held several part-time jobs: at Shenandoah Monument Co., Culligan Water and Earl May Seed and Nursery Co. While Bud was involved with B&K Milling, Pauline served as bookkeeper for the business. Perhaps the job she loved most was being the baby-sitter for her grandson, Joe, during his growing-up years.

Pauline was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. For many years she was active in the Trinity Women's League.

Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Bud in 1989; her parents; brothers Fred, Robert, John, Glen and infant Harlan; sisters Catherine Colwell, Emma Williams and infant Edna.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Carla Rigdon and husband Glenn of Shenandoah, grandson Joe Rigdon and wife Caitie of Blue Springs, Missouri, great-granddaughters Anja and Bianca Rigdon, and other beloved relatives and friends.

Private Family Graveside Memorial Services will be held at the Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church or the Shenandoah Ambulance Service.
