Carroll always had a smile, a laugh and kind words for everyone. He was always good to kids. I am so sorry for his families loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Jim, Kate, Doug and families. Prayers for you Jeane. It was a pleasure meeting you a couple of times when I saw you and Carroll in town. May God comfort you all in this time of sorrow."

"I am very saddened to learn about Carroll's passing. I just spoke to Jim a week ago and asked how he was doing, but nothing indicated he was getting ready to leave us. I hunted deer with Carroll and a group of other Shenandoah-area men for many years starting in 1990 and always looked forward to the camaraderie those times provided. Carroll was what I call a "salt of the earth" kind of guy...not presumptuous, willing to do anything he could to help you if you needed it. Always a ready laugh and smile. My most sincere condolences to his family."

June Miller wrote on Nov 23, 2020:

"My family has known the Polsley family for as many years as I can remember. I used to babysit for Jim and Kate before Doug was born. My younger siblings were classmates of Jim and Kate. My grandparents lived just a block South of Anne and Carroll's house. Little Doug used to run over to their house yelling "Ellie, Ellie, let me in. Anne was after him for him being ornery. My Grandmother's name was Elsie. So many good memories. Carroll once had a dachshund dog named Tony. He loved to overeat and Carroll fed him well. Our sympathy goes out to all the family and especially Jeane. She was a rock to Carroll. Carroll's sister Delores was a loving and caring sister to Carroll. The town of Coin did lose a gentle giant and an icon of the area. Much love, Bob and June Exceen Miller"

"My sympathy and prayers for the family. I have great memories of Carroll when he owned the Polsley Station in Coin. I was just a young girl on my bicycle and I would always stop into the station for a slim jim and a squirt. Carroll was always pleasant to us kids and of course if we needed our bike tires filled up he would take care of us no matter how busy he was at that time. And then when Carroll and Ann took over the Coin Café, we would go in there and get ice cream. Carroll was also a big part of the Coin Fire department. He was such a great asset to Coin and our memories will last a life time. Rest in peace my friend! "

"Carroll was a great husband, father, friend, neighbor and citizen of Coin, I knew him from age four when we moved to Coin and his family was our neighbor. He was always helpful and there when people needed help. I remember all the pets he had and especially the Dachshund pups he loved. His dog Fred was my favorite and a long time companion for him. Jim, Kate and Doug were blessed to have a dad like him, As someone else put it he was a gentle giant and worked hard all his life. "
