Herb Schnoebelen
March 6, 1923 - November 11, 1999

Herb Schnoebelen LONE TREE - Herb Schnoebelen, 76, of Lone Tree, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at his home after an extended illness. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lone Tree. The Rev. Ben Okonkwo and Parish Life Coordinator Carol Kaalberg will officiate. Pallbearers will be David, Jim, Kurt, Bob, and Doug Schnoebelen, and Nick Kempf. Burial will be at the Lone Tree Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Rosary service Sunday at the Sorden Funeral Home in Lone Tree. Memorials may be made to the Lone Tree First Responders. Mr. Schnoebelen was born March 6, 1923, at Riverside, the son of George and Mary Caroline Heitzman Schnoebelen. He married Berneda Cook on June 11, 1949, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lone Tree. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Lone Tree American Legion for 45 years, Lone Tree Fireman for 30 years. He worked for the City of Lone Tree, farmed in the Lone Tree area and was a rural mail carrier. Survivors include his wife, Berneda of Lone Tree; two sons, David of Iowa City and Kurt of Lone Tree; a granddaughter, Ashley; two brothers Alvin of Lone Tree and Vern of Iowa City; six sisters, Delores Kempf of Iowa City, Zelma Murr of West Liberty, Coletta Stachar of Apache Junction, Ariz., Frances Self of Phoenix, Ariz., Dorothy Johnson of Washington and Anita Mehaffey of Vermillion, S. D. He was preceded in death by his parents.
