Dennis Opel TIPTON, Iowa #45;- Dennis Wayne Opel, 49, of Wellman, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2000, at Wellman Parkview Manor. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Harker Cemetery in Muscatine. Dr. Kenneth Frans will officiate. Pallbearers will be Shane Achenbach, Chris Calvert, Robert Sundberg and Troy Mente. Honorary pallbearers will be Cassie Achenbach, Kelly Sisco, Skyla LeGrand. Visitation will be from noon-1:30 p.m. Saturday at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton. Mr. Opel was born Jan. 19, 1951, in Muscatine County, the son of George Adam and Violet Elizabeth Holtz Opel. He married Pamela Sue Calvert on Feb. 14, 1970, in Muscatine, then he married Lawonna Hanson on May 23, 1997, in Bertram. He worked at Louis Rich in West Liberty as a meat cutter for 10 years. He graduated from Muscatine High School. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a past member of Muscatine Moose Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Lawonna of Tipton; a daughter, Denise Mente and her husband, Troy of Tipton; a son, Chad Opel of Aurora, Colo.; a sister, Carol Steinbaugh of Muscatine; a grandchild, Daulton Mente of Tipton; a niece, Sarah Steinbaugh; and stepchildren, Cassie Achen of Tipton and Shane Achenbach of Rock Island.
