Santiago 'Jim' R. Aguilar
November 27, 1929 - February 18, 2001

Santiago Aguilar FRUITLAND, Iowa #45;- Santiago R. 'Jim' Aguilar, 71, of Fruitland, died Sunday February 18, 2001, at the Unity Hospital in Muscatine. Services will be 10:30 Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Muscatine. The Rev. Bernard Weir will officiate. Bev Weber will be the organist. Pallbearers will be Charles Gries, Steven Rudolph, John Thumen, Wayne Shoultz, Pablo Jimenez and David Steele. Honorary pallbearers will be Phelix Torres, Mark VanAuken and Darrell Werner. Burial will be at the Island Cemetery in Fruitland. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday with a Rosary at 8 pm at the Geo M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral. A memorial has been established in his memory and may be left at the funeral home. Mr. Aguilar was born on November 27, 1929, in Vicente Guerro, Mexico the son of Candelario and Cuca Flores Aguilar. He married Beatrice Torres on February 16, 1958, in Texas. He was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church and the 'coffee club' at the Texaco station in Fruitland. He retired from the R.J. Dick Steel Company in 1981. He enjoyed fishing and time spent with his grandchildren. He is survived by two sons, Martin and his wife, Bridget Aguilar, of Muscatine and Candelario 'Coney' Aguilar and his finance, Sharon Lewis, of Fruitland; a granddaughter Samantha Rose; two future step-granddaughters, Heather Raye and Elizabeth Ann; and two brothers, Francisco and Juan Aguilar both of Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one sister, Shona.
