William Trede DURANT, Iowa #45;- William G. Trede, 94, of Durant died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at Lutheran Homes of Muscatine. Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Durant. The Rev. Darin Lovelace will officiate. Organist is Mabyn Fox. Honorary pallbearers are Kirk Trede, Gregory Erickson, Nickolaus Erickson, Robert Mardock, Hank Hagge, and Gilbert Meinert. Private family burial will be at a later date in the Durant Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Paul's Episcopal Church and the Durant Ambulance Service. Mr. Trede was born on March 15, 1907, in Cedar County, the son of Georg and Alvena Wulf Trede. He married Loretta H. Puck Sept. 12, 1935, in Davenport. She preceded him in death Dec. 16, 1981. He owned and operated Trede Electric in Durant for 27 years, retiring in 1972. Prior to that he had worked as an electrician for Pioneer Hybrids. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. He was one of the founders of the Durant Senior Citizens and was instrumental in organizing the Durant Meals on Wheels. He was a former Cedar County Senior Citizen of the Year and was on the Durant Library Board. He enjoyed working on the history of Durant and the surrounding communities. He also volunteered at the Durant Public and Durant Community School Libraries. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Erickson and her husband, Larry, of Durant; a son, Dale Trede and his wife, Sandy, of Wilton; three grandsons, Kirk Trede, Gregory Erickson, Nickolaus Erickson and his fiance, Lori Euers. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two sisters, Dorinda Ormsby and Wilma Gardner; a brother, Roy Kruse; a grandson, Matthew Erickson.
