Olive Alberhasky TIPTON, Iowa #45;- Olive Mae Martin McCoy Gaul Alberhasky, 91, of 512 East St. in Tipton, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, in the Hawthorn Inn at Windmill Pointe Estates in Coralville following a lingering heart condition. Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Church of Christ in Tipton. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery in Davenport. Visitation is 3-6 p.m. Sunday at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton. Memorials may be made to DAR, Open Prairie Chapter and the American Heart Institute. Mrs. Alberhasky was born on Sept. 1, 1910, in Muscatine, the daughter of Joseph S. and Lois Darting Martin. She married Buel L. McCoy on June 25, 1931. He preceded her in death in September 1949. She then married Ernest Gaul in 1951. He preceded her in death in 1968. She later married Don Alberhasky in 1976. She graduated from Muscatine County High School in 1929 and attended Normal Training School. She began teaching at Sweetland Rural School in the fall of 1929. She then worked for the Minneapolis Park Board, teaching in settlement houses. She moved to Cedar County in 1937, moving to Killdeer, N.D. in 1949 and re-establishing an electrical business with her first husband. She returned to Cedar County after his death and taught in Cedar County schools. She operated the office of Gaul Motor Company in Tipton, of which her second husband was a partner, until it was sold. She moved to Iowa City in 1976 with her third husband and spent many years traveling. They returned to Tipton in 1989 to buy the house the Gaul's built in 1960. She was an active member of First United Church of Christ, Open Prairie Chapter of DAR, the 19th Century Club and Martha Circle. She loved entertaining family and friends. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought continual pride and joy to her. Survivors include her husband, Don; children Jerold K. McCoy and his wife, Dritha of Hinsdale, Ill. and Tuscon, Ariz. and Lois L. McCoy Wegner and her husband, Ron, of Cedar Rapids; five grandsons, Dr. Gregory McCoy of Portland, Ore., Mark McCoy and his wife, Rea, of Nashville, Tenn., Phillip McCoy and his wife, Michele, of Sutliff, Matthew McCoy and his wife, Michelle, of Lockport, Ill. and Wesley Durow and his wife, Maryellen, of Richardson, Texas; stepchildren, Richard Alberhasky and his wife, Nancy, of Kansas City, Mo., Pat Morris of Tipton, Marilyn Coburn and her husband, Keith, of rural Cedar County, Marge Gaul Grossen and her husband, Lou, of Sheboygan, Wis. and Darlene Gaul Hambright and her husband, Phillip, of Bennett; stepgrandsons, Kelly Coburn and his wife, Becky, Dan Coburn, Dewight and Travis Alberhasky and Quenton Alberhasky and his wife, Pat, Amy Vaughey, Douglas Wegner and his wife, Tonya, and Dennis Wegner; great-grandchildren Michael and Madison, both of Oregon, Grant, Reed, and Connor, all of Tennessee, Peyton, Clayton and Gage, all of Iowa, McKenzie and Marybeth, both of Illinois, Chandler, Grant and Harrison, all of Texas; stepgreat-grandchildren, Clayton and Satchle; six sisters, Ruby Schmitt of Coralville, Jody Rostenbach and her husband, Wayne, of Bettendorf, Lucille Meirsonne of Wilmet. Ill., Mary Hagen of Muscatine, Dayle Martin and her husband, Don, of Coralville and Ann Jean of Buena Part, Calif.; and three brothers, Harry Martin and his wife, Alta, of Murphy, N.C., William Martin and his wife, Elaine, of Spartanburg, S.C., Walter Martin and his wife, Audrey, of Tipton. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; and a sister, Ruth.
