Edward Griffin FREDONIA, Iowa #45;- Edward J. Griffin, 74, Fredonia, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at the VA Medical Center, Iowa City. Graveside services are 10 a.m. Friday, June 20, at the Indian Creek Cemetery. A memorial has been established at the funeral home. The Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction, is handling the arrangements. Mr. Griffin was born on May 27, 1929, in Melrose, the son of William P. and Kathleen A. McGrath Griffin. He married Eva M. Hills on Dec. 6, 1959. She preceded him in death on April 16, 2001. He later married Lula R. Murry on Dec. 26, 1971. In the 1970s, he worked 16 years as a wildcater on drilling rigs in Michigan and Wyoming. In the 1960s he worked on the gas drilling rigs in the Columbus Junction area. He also worked as a railroad foreman. He was an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion. Survivors include a son, Randy Griffin of Fredonia; four grandchildren, Aaron Troy Lee, Justin Keil, Andy Keil and Joshua Keil; two brothers, Jerry Griffin and his wife, Bette, and Paul Griffin, all of Columbus Junction; and two sisters, Patricia L. Cocklin and her husband, Clinton, of Wapello and Loretta M. Bailey and her husband, Jim, of Fort Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Eva; a stepdaughter, Belinda Keil; two sisters; and four brothers.
