James 'Jim' M. Bell
September 10, 1917 - January 1, 2004

James Bell MUSCATINE, Iowa #45;- James M. 'Jim' Bell, 86, of Muscatine, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. Services are 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 6, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, 2907 Mulberry Ave. Robert Vance will officiate. Pallbearers are Jonathan Vance, Dean Heckman, Clinton Hall, Dennis Hanson, Ryan Streck and Alan Rusher. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Lake Park Blvd. Mr. Bell was born on Sept. 10, 1917 in Lone Tree, the son of William and Frieda Rieland Bell. On July 28, 1940, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth M. Amish. He worked at Carver Pump for 43 years before retiring. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. He loved to fish, play horseshoes, softball and bowling in his younger years. Survivors include wife Betty; one son, Craig Bell and wife, Susan of Napa, Calif.; two brothers, Lester Bell of Lone Tree and Clifford Bell and wife Ramona of Iowa City, two sisters, Gertrude Mumm and husband Barclay of Quasqueton and Mildred Sass of North Liberty; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dr. Gary Lee Bell, one brother, Chester Bell and two sisters, Florence Holmes and Viola Grimm.
