Nancy Kent MUSCATINE, Iowa #45;- Nancy Elizabeth Kent, 96, Muscatine, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at Naples Community Hospital, Naples, Fla. Private family services will be held at a later date with burial at Greenwood Cemetery. The Rev. Dan Schoepf will officiate. Honorary casket bearers are Katherine Vandygriff, Gage Kent, Steven Kent, Michael Kent, Patricia Walker and Susan Nelson. Visitation is 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, 2907 Mulberry Ave. Memorials may be directed to the Miracle Hill Ministries or Muscatine Humane Society. Mrs. Kent was born April 1, 1907, in Webster Groves, Mo., the daughter of Thomas and Mary Dunville Craighead. She married Gage Allison Kent June 23, 1937, in St. Louis, Mo. He preceded her in death in 1972. She was the secretary to the president of Chapelow Advertising Agency in St. Louis and later became the secretary to the president of KMOX, a CBS radio affiliate, also in St. Louis. She was a longtime Board member of the Muscatine Humane Society and funded the new facility that was constructed in 1995 at 920 S. Houser St. She had an enduring association with animal care in Muscatine and was also a contributor to the Nancy E. Kent Medical Center located at 1609 Cedar St. She was a member of the Geneva Golf amp; Country Club in Muscatine, as well as the Royal Poinciana Country Club in Naples, PEO and attended the Covenant Presbyterian Church of Naples. Survivors include two stepsons, James H. Kent and wife Irene of Muscatine and Harold L. Kent and wife JoAnn of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren, Katherine Vandygriff and husband Cecil of Muscatine, Gage Kent and wife Jennifer of Muscatine, Steven Kent of Lutz, Fla., Michael Kent and wife Gail of Colorado Springs, Colo., Patricia Walker and husband David and Susan Nelson and husband Robert, all of Lutz; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Norwood and Gorman Craighead.
