Robert Nutting CLEAR LAKE, Iowa #45;- Robert Lee Nutting, 72, of 1511 N. 23rd St, Clear Lake, died Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, at First Christian Church, 318 N. Adams, Mason City. The Rev. William Kanne will officiate. Burial will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the Clear Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitations are 5-7 p.m. today at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake and one hour prior to services Wednesday, March 3, at the church. Memorials may be made to the Robert L. Nutting memorial fund. Mr. Nutting was born in Vichy, Mo., the son of Rolland and Dee Peterson Nutting. He married Patricia O'Neil in Mason City. He later married Norma Huntley Boehnke Aug. 7, 1992, in Mason City. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1949 and then from Mason City Jr. College. While in high school and college he was an accomplished athlete. After school, he entered the service and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on a submarine as a machinist. He moved back to Mason City following the service and started his career serving in many capacities for Armour, including plant manager and superintendent in various plants, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, fishing, going to races, being a fan of the Hawkeyes and Vikings and especially enjoyed his poodles. He was a very devoted husband and family man. He was a member of First Christian Church, Mason City, and the Clear Lake VFW. Survivors include his wife, Norma Nutting of Clear Lake; granddaughter, Elizabeth Fischbeck of Mason City; children, Marilyn Tecklenburg and husband, Jeff, of Muscatine and Jim Boehnke and wife, Renee', of Clear Lake; a son-in-law, John Fischbeck and wife, Donna, of Mason City; nine grandchildren, April Schmitz and husband, Dale, Jennifer Tecklenburg, Matthew Tecklenburg and wife, Mandy, Emily Tecklenburg, Brooke Ewing, Evan Tecklenburg, Kelsey Boehnke and Andrew Boehnke; four great-grandchildren; and an aunt, Martha Nutting of Mason City. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Patricia; a daughter, Rhonda Fischbeck; a son, David Nutting; and a sister, Alene Estep.
