ORLA HINKLEY MUSCATINE, Iowa - Orla L. Hinkley, 92, formerly of the Clark House, died Monday, April 17, 2006, at the Wapello Nursing amp; Rehab Center, Wapello, Iowa. Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2006, at Greenwood Cemetery. Reverend Don Swanson of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Per his request, there will be no visitation. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Moosehart Foundation in care of the Moose Lodge. Mr. Hinkley was born on February 15, 1914, in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of Walter C. and Mercy E. Cruthers Hinkley. His first marriage was to Mirian E. Bowman on June 15, 1940, in Muscatine. She preceded him in death in 1969. His second marriage was to Betty E. Morgan on January 4, 1974, in Walnut Creek, California. She preceded him in death in 1993. He was a US Army veteran serving during World War II in the European Theater. Orla worked as an assembler at the Carver Pump Company for over 15 years. He also worked for HON Industries and was a self-employed painter. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Moose Lodge No. 388. He enjoyed playing pool with his friends at the Moose and spending time with his granddaughters. Survivors include a daughter, Patti Morrison and husband, Merle, of Letts; two granddaughters, Melissa and Holly Morrison; and two nephews, LaVerne Garvin of Moscow and Gerald Garvin and wife, Marge, of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, one brother, Earl Hinkley, and two sisters, Ethel Seiler and Gladys Garvin.
